The lyrical content of this song is incredible. I think the song is about the speaker (Scogin) talking to a new Christian. I think the first part is a warning to the new Christian about the struggles that lie ahead, example, "I hope you don't hold your breath because they revolt like a choir"- Telling him not to second guess God ever, because as soon as he does, The enemy (satan) will attack that and try capitalize on that weariness. The second part, I believe, is about Scogin telling the Christian that there is nothing to worry about because, nothing can come against him, example, "You're free, don't fear, this is just a revolt"- Telling the Christian that he is free of any sinful constraints and death can no longer hold the Christian down. He's also telling him, by "..just a revolt", that many people will see his choice to give his life to Christ as wrong and call it foolish (much like a revolt). The last part, I think, Scogin is telling the Christian that the choice to be a Christian is a move in which he is not alone and he has many brothers and sisters to 'walk' with him.- "Oh we stand hand in hand and we walk without fear." So, that's what I think the song is about.-- Scogin telling a new Christian about how his life will be different. |
