i read anthony kiedis's book and I know what this is about. It was originally a poem ak wrote, and their manager found it and demanded they make it in to a song. It was about when anthony was kicking his heroine addiction, he went to band practice and witnessed his band mates doing the drugs he was no longer allowed to do, and it gave him an empty feeling inside. he drove to under the bridge where he first shot up heroine and wrote the poem that then became the fuckin awesome song. Fun fact, the women who sing the UNDER THE BRIDGE DOWNTOWNNNN part are the women in john frusciante's (the guitarist's) mom's book club. thought that was cool |
