Death Cab for Cutie – I Will Follow You Into the Dark Lyrics 14 years ago
Just a thought; I think the hole in the music video is supposed to be death getting closer and closer.

"Me" I don't know why I said that. "Him"

STupid touch typing.

When she says "fear is the heart of love" is she telling me to fear God?

"no"s is not the word no, it's actually number. Illuminate the NUMBERS on their sides, and decide who's going to heaven and who's going to hell.

Mind you, I could be wrong, please don't say "you're an idiot" it's just my interpretation.

The best line I think is "when you were young you were the King of Carrot Flowers" I love it.

Neutral Milk Hotel – The King of Carrot Flowers Pt. 1 Lyrics 14 years ago
I think this song is basically about childhood in the nasty world as The Second World War cast a shadow upon the globe. I think the album follows a jewish family. King of Carrot Flowers basically sets the scene; childhood, before they have to hide from the nazis. In the Aeroplane Over the Sea is a bit later, like teens, or something. Then the girl dies in Two Headed Boy, and all the songs after that involve him coping with the loss of her, and their eventual reunion in the afterlife in Two Headed Boy Part two.

You don't have to agree with me, but that's my idea of it. Basically the whole life. This song covers the childhood, all the innocence while surrounded with a world in chrisis.

Neutral Milk Hotel – The King of Carrot Flowers Pt. 1 Lyrics 14 years ago
Oh my God it's so beautiful I love it. In some ways it's about the childhood of the narrator. The freedom and beauty; king of whatever you like, and then finding love.

The Undertones – Teenage Kicks Lyrics 14 years ago
I suppose it talks of how badly you ache for a girl you love. And your heart is set so hard on her you can never take it back. And you want to hold her so tight- I know that. It's like you've got a thirst- as if you've drunk loads of salt water.

Amanda Palmer – Oasis Lyrics 15 years ago
this is the world's only happy abortion song. Amanda Palmer is SO AWESOME I LOVE HER!!!! I reckon the merry, loud character of the song symbolises "laughing at the darkness" rather than going and crying in a corner. ("I've seen better days, but I don't care")

I love amanda Palmer. It's a great song.

Amanda Palmer – Astronaut: A Short History of Nearly Nothing Lyrics 15 years ago
This kind of reminds me of "space oddity". I always think of major Tom when I hear "you are my love, the astronaut,"- it's a good line as well. I love this song, it's fantastic.

Evelyn Evelyn – Elephant Elephant Lyrics 15 years ago
pretty good song. I love it! It's like a breather from dark and haunting songs like Sandy Fishnets. I love this album, it's one of my favourite albums of all time.

Amanda Palmer – Strength Through Music Lyrics 15 years ago
the song is about the school shootings, hands down. The first verse evades meaning, but the second verse makes it very clear. School children shooting other children- they think it's just a game. They're only playing. They think it's so simple, that they can just go and kill people. They make no sound. Has anyone seen the music video for this song, by the way? The one where Amanda walks down a school corridor, and the corridor fills up with bodies. It was absolutely horrifying to see.

This is a truly brilliant song.

Neutral Milk Hotel – Two-Headed Boy Pt. 2 Lyrics 15 years ago
I always thought that the wings were growing from notches in the spine. I think this means that they're, well- angels- and they're dead. This is the present tense, lacking some of the nostalgia of "King of Carrot Flowers part one" and "Holland, 1945". It's all about WWII, in my opinion. There are lines referring to the dates and also very obvious references. "In the dark, we will take off our clothes and they'll be lacing fingers through the notches in your spine"- that, I think, is a reference to the concentration camps. They take off their clothes, in the dark, and are taken to a dark cramped gas chamber, and murdered. And we can see where that fits in. And this is a love couple, of which the girl died. That's my point of view anyway- you don't have to agree with me. If anyone's got a better theory, I'd love to hear about it.

Neutral Milk Hotel – The King of Carrot Flowers Pts. 2 and 3 Lyrics 15 years ago
part two kind of dissapointed me; it's just sort of boring- part one's MUCH BETTER. After the first time he said "I love you, Jesus Christ", and it carried on, I thought, "I get the message" but part three's good, though.

Neutral Milk Hotel – Holland, 1945 Lyrics 15 years ago
I reckon that the first few lyrics seem to match Anne Frank

the only girl I've ever loved,
they buried her alive,
one evening, 1945,
and only weeks before the guns
all came and rained on everyone.

To me, this is about how Anne Frank died only a few weeks before that particular concentration camp was liberated (the guns came and rained on everyone)- and "they buried her alive" is to do with how they put her in a gas chamber underground, and killed her stone dead. Well- potentially Anne Frank, and potentially another Jewish family that were caught up in the war.
