| I think it's just about him going out and hunting foxes with his father or some figure oh higher respect to him. One of the foxes he has probably named 'Michael' (before or after the killing) is shot dead by the other person with him, to which he then describes it's death. The line ''And turn the white snow red as strawberries'' could be about the big strip of white that goes from the neck down under the fox being the 'snow' and having it's own blood splattered over it, which would make sense of the last line ''In the summertime''. | |
