In another version of it it says 'without you winter grows' which makes me think of a different scenario....but I am not sure what... Would like to know what other people think of this song |

I think it is about a man who is infertile but in love with a woman. He loves her but he doesn't feel he can marry her, perhaps because she feels that without children she won't be happy.: 'I can't marry you: without children to grow' He is telling her to go off and find a man to impregnate her: 'love her unloved parts'.... so that she can come back and then he will marry her: 'I will be your man' It would have been a very untraditional thing to do in the past so perhaps it might seem scary: 'places you may be afraid' But they are doing it together and making a commitment to carry out this plan together: 'Into the river we will wade' Once it is all done she will be able to come back and love him like he loves her: very unselfishly and pure. I love the chorus, such a romantic song :) |
