| Macklemore – The End Lyrics

I'm going to try to break down this song as much as I can, so here it goes. Macklemore going to prom is simply a metaphor for his life. The girl trying to get him on stage is probably the girl that pushed him to rap, break his shell and go for it. She is also the one he loves because she did this for him. She also helped him break his habits when she says he doesn't need the flask. She wants him to be successful and not hold him back even though they love each other dearly. Last dance and Winterball alludes to the idea that it is winter. Winter in poetry represents death and the end. The Winterball here represents how he lost her, even though she made him what he was. But it wasn't in haste, they both knew it was coming and she was sure of it, just happy she helped him through everything. |

| Say Anything – Goodbye Young Tutor, You've Now Outgrown Me Lyrics

Alright. My interpretation to this song. First off, let me void others opinions on this being a comical song. In no way is it. It all starts with "Have At Thee" and leads to "Plea" with this song being in the middle. After hearing the "Hangover Song" along with "Have At Thee" this song is still about the girl he is trying oh-so-hard to forget about. But he wants her back. It's a common feeling. "The night that we met/my favorite band, but you wouldn't know" again hints that he never really opened to her and is now regretting it. When the song breaks down he becomes more serious. He lets out his real emotions of how he wants to feel. He most likely wants these feelings from this girl that seemed so perfect at the time. And he wants to perfect the relationship and get her back.
----Sadly, I went through all of these feelings(mostly hangover song and goodbye young tutor)not so long ago. So this song hits home. I fell for a girl and I wanted her to feel the same.---- |

Okay here goes my interpretation. This song can be about a number of things, but I'm here to explain how it relates to a dying relationship. "A heart of gold, But it lost it's pride" basically resembles how he thought she was perfect (and most likely still does), but she lost herself and what they had along the way. "Beautiful veins, And bloodshot eyes" can either resemble her in person or his own struggle through the entire thing (that being not being able to sleep, etc.)."I see your face In another light" he doesn't see her as her anymore. The chorus is basically everything I just explained, but to elaborate he still wonders to this day why it had to end. "Do you ever think of me? You're so considerate. Did you think of me? Oh so considerate" he knows she just left him and didn't care about what they had which was a great deal of love for each other. And when he first states this in the breakdown it's more of a statement (that being she is just so cold hearted) and less of a question because he knows the answer.
-Woah. That was a long one. It's pretty crazy how almost all these songs on this topic I can relate to.- |

| A Day to Remember – Your Way with Words Is Through Silence Lyrics

Just to state this now I love ADTR. Thus said, the tone of this song may throw your thinking off a little. It's a heavy song, that's no doubt, but in no way is this about a horrible relationship. Yeah in songs like You Had Me At Hello it is acoustic and mellow, but this is just a different tone. Now to the meaning. This song is basically about how him and her have been heavily flirting for a long time. They both fall in love and he writes this for her to see that she is all he needs and more. And no matter what he'll be there to "pick her pieces off the floor." She may not let him in his life completely, but he accepts this and promises her that he is there for her no matter what since it would kill him to see her gone from his life. |

This song is generally about a guy who met his gf in the winter. He fell in love, but it didn't last. She grew tired of him and started denying him. So he brought it up (first line) because he is smarter than he seems. Even though she grew tired of him she won't forget what they had. Now he's deciding if he should try to fall back into love or just move on. He attempts to get her back, but he finds it pointless.
-Really good song. Had an almost identical situation in my life- |
