| Owl City – Fireflies Lyrics

I think its about having a dream world, or an ideal world that one can escape to, maybe in a dream at night or in a daydream, but knowing that this fantasy isn't reality and that it won't ever be reality is heartbreaking. So as much as the speaker wants to live in that fantasy world, he or she cannot because they're stuck in reality. |

| Jon Foreman – Learning How To Die Lyrics

I think the song presents a glass half empty/ glass half full paradox. The girl is focused on the negative in life, on how everything only results in death. The speaker however is trying to tell her that there's something more there and that's what we should talk about because even if life only leads to death, we still have life. |

| Shane Mack – More Than This Lyrics
|
|
I think this is a song about hopeful regret. Regret that the speaker didn't do enough in the time available or with what he or he had but hoping and questioning whether there is more than this, whether or not there is more to life than what has already been experienced. |

| Shane Mack – Lie To Me Lyrics
|
I think this is a song about knowing a relationship is going to end- maybe it was only a summer fling or there's some other circumstance that puts an expiration date on it. In spite of this knowledge though, the speaker wants to enjoy whatever bit of the relationship they can, wants to remember the positive even if it means lying to each other about whats going to happen.
In relation to the movie, it plays during the summer love montage, so I think at that point Zach and Shaun didn't think the relationship was necessarily going to last forever so the song is meant to imply that they still wanted to be happy even if there was a sort of end date attached to their relationship. So, even though the movie was happy in the ending, at the point when the song played there was no guarantee of a happy ending. |

| Darren Criss – I Still Think Lyrics

I think this is a song about still being in love with someone even through a break-up or a fight or maybe a pre-relationship true love, but a love that doesn't look like it should still exist, a love that defies the odds. |

| Switchfoot – The Shadow Proves The Sunshine Lyrics

|
Its about trying to be the sunshine, trying to stand up straight when the entire world is working against the good of humanity and how its difficult to keep up the hope and the belief in something better, in God, in dark times. |

I think this is a song about how we cannot escape the media, the poparazzi, because they have taken over our society and saturated it with celebrities. |

| Switchfoot – Learning To Breathe Lyrics

I think this is about getting through the day, no matter how rough it is, with God's help. Its like the saying 'just keep breathing.' The speaker of the song is learning how to get through rough day after rough day with God's help. |

| Switchfoot – On Fire Lyrics
|
|
Its a song about God lighting someone's heart on fire, like in the story of the road to Emmaus when Jesus broke bread with the disciples who did not recognize Him. When God speaks there is a certain kind of power and feeling that comes with it, like lighting someone's heart on fire in a non-violent/heartburn way. |

| Switchfoot – Adding To The Noise Lyrics
| 15 years ago
|
|
I think that while this is related to the amount of noise in the world today, its not about escaping all of it. Its about finding the good noise, finding what really matters and figuring out what we really should be listening to. Whether that be actual news, God, or our own thoughts we should listen to it. So, the song is a challenge of sorts to the validity of the song- if the listener thinks what is being said they should turn it off because its just adding to the noise in the world, or maybe the song has something of value to say and as such we should listen to it. |
