This song was originally written by all three of the Jonas Brothers. When they were deciding on the final songs for LVATT, this song was not one of them. This was around the time when Miley and Nick reconnected. During there reconnection Miley tweeted "in a dark theater with nick k writing music" or something to those lines. While in that theater, Nick played the song for Miley and said it didn't make the album. They then both realized that lyrics to the song could be changed to fit the story of there relationship. Nick said in an interview that he wanted to make sure that the new version of the song made the album because he wanted everyone to know there story. He also said that it is about how the times that she needed him he wasn't there for her and that it is hard to look back on that. | After the recent news about Demi admiting herself in rehab, it is obvious what this song is about. When this song first came out, people thought Demi was trying to help others, but we now realize that she wrote this to try to help herself. The lines "the mirror can lie, it doesnt show you whats in side. It can tell you you're full of life, its amazing what you can hide just by putting on a smile." Demi is dealing with body image problems and an eating disorder, and that is basically saying that no matter what she looks like on the outside, its the inside that counts. For 3 years she fouled all of us by putting on that big smile, when deep inside she was feeling hurt and pain. I wish we knew...I love you Demi <3 | |
