at the time this was written Jagger was interested in the Process Church with Marianne Faithfull. They participated in the publication of the Process Magazine. The Process Church were not Satan worshippers but believed if you believe in God you must believe in Satan equally. The lyrics to me, sound like that is what they meant, that to believe in one you must believe in the other. It doesn't make anyone a devil worshipper. |

the lyrics sound like they were written for Cheri Chestnut, Mark's 1st wife. In his biography he says he caught her cheating while he was on the rode while they were dating. He told her to get out & she shot herself. He then married her with the promise she would be faithful but she wasn't so he divorced her & wrote several songs about her. |

gotcha, I see how it could be taken that way. They were both early 20's when he wrote this so I guess to him she was a "little girl". The saying "little girl" seemed to be used alot in the 70's & 80"s, Lynard Skynard, 38 Special etc. Nowadays it wouldn't be acceptable. |

it's a remake of the Animals song with slight changes of wording. I prefer this version. The live version of this is terrific when the crowd yells out "nickel bags". The video's for it are sweet time capsules. You can see them preform this live at the festival in '69 on youtube, what a performance. This song is my all time favorite. |

| Grand Funk Railroad – We're An American Band Lyrics

this song is about what the band was doing at that time. If you watch VH1 behind the scenes Don Brewer states that he wrote about life on the road. Sweet Sweet Connie is about Connie Hamzy, she was with both Don & Mel (not Mark). Her interview says Mark became a Christian & did not get involved with her. The "4 young chiquitas in Omaha" were 4 girls that were scheduled to take care of the band while in Omaha according to Mark Farner (again in the VH1 show-posted in 5 parts on Youtube. |
