The thirteenth step is not what you said. It is when newcomers jump into a relationship with another member of the program (usually one who has been in the program for a significant amount of time, and as a result, should know better. When the situation does Include an "old-timer", their behavior is usually viewed as being predatory, and taking advantage of a person who is in an especially vulnerable state). "Thirteenth stepping", as it is most often referred to, can also take place between two people who are both newcomers to sobriety in the 12-step program. |

The lyric "The other friend of Bill" is wrong... It is "Yeah I'm a friend of Bill, let let me in" This is in reference to Alcoholics Anonymous. The program was created by two men: Bill Wilson and Dr. Bob...however, Bill Wilson is primarily considered to be the founder. Out of this fact grew the expression "Friend of Bill", a discreet, coded way for AA members to recognize/find/seek out other recovering alcoholics. Sage uses this phrase with a double meaning. On one level he is saying heneeds to be let in because he is a recovering alcoholic who needs help as well, but he is also using it to sound like he is saying there is someone inside who he knows so he needs to be let in. |
