I've been having these same feelings about the song regarding my elderly (86 and 88) parents' relationship; both are frail and my mother has Alzheimer's, but they are still very much in love after nearly 64 years of marriage, and each other's loving caregivers. Parts of this song I feel my father speaking to my mother, other parts are in my own voice. My favorite Pearl Jam song by far. I just came home from helping them have Christmas for extended family in their home, and this song had been on my mind - came in here and read your comments. It's a year later so things may have changed in your lives. I also agree with the poster who felt this echoed Kansas' "Dust in the Wind," yes, the same heart-tugging sort of lyrics and lilting melody, I feel it too! |
