| There is an emily dickinson poem that goes something like: "hope is the thing with wings that perches in your soul." I think i recall something about Linnell being a Dickinson fan. He is talking about a night lite in terms of protection, hence the ancestor reference as a lighthouse. If you think about it, hope is a lighthouse on a dark stormy night. I feel the album flood is about societal devastation and darkness looming. So the birdhouse in your soul reference is the reminder to keep a place for hope. and if you think about what hope is, it is faith. This could be a religious song. The Johns are MASTER lyricists, they write songs with so many layers that you peel apart like an onion. I feel most people here are just looking at the face value of the lyrics not realizing that these people are poets, and poets use roundabout ways to tell you something. | |

This is obviously about gun rights, someone is trying to take their rock with a string(a weapon, for defense, also recreation) from them and kill anyone that wants one. Releasing the crib doors could mean opening the prisons and throwing the people in there who want guns or who own them. which also makes reference to them being babies and needing to be taken care of(like the politicians not thinking we can run our own lives). The prosthetic foreheads obviously would be helmets. or forehead protectors. because someone is trying to burn the foreheads down. Think about it, brain wash, kill our brains. possibly a reference to tin foil hat wearers. how someone wants to stop the ones who are protecting themselves. because they don't want you protected they want to kill you/control you. |

The song is about the Baphomet. The beast who lives "under" the sea. its like he has set his life out heading straight for hell, he knows thats where he is going. The yellow leaf of roosevelt ave could be the fall, and could also represent gold, like a gold leaf, or money, or wealth. Our only home is bone: as in you have nowhere to hide, no where to run to, we yearn to swim home but our only home is bone, so we are stuck swimming trying not to fall under the sea, and get sucked down to the cow, the cow is obviously bad because why else would he be trying to swim away. The swimming is like us swimming through life trying to keep our head above water. |

i think its about satan, who poses as an angel of light and your friend. people use the term lighthouse in reference to the illuminated ones, or the illuminati, which is a satanic organization. "say i'm the only bee in your bonnet" - isn't that something bad that is bothering you, is this a good thing? the whole Flood album is a concept record about religion and the coming end times. |
