Almost everyone relates this song to suicide - and I don't disagree - but this should be the National Anthem of Alzheimer's disease. If you have ever seen someone 'Fade to Black' from this disease it is positively eerie how it describes the person slipping and fading away when you hear these lyrics: Life, it seems, will fade away Drifting further every day Getting lost within myself Nothing matters, no one else I have lost the will to live Simply nothing more to give There is nothing more for me Need the end to set me free Love the line need the end to set me free. My father and brother from cancer and my mother from a huge stroke - was so happy for the end to come and set them free as they had already faded away so much. |

| Fleetwood Mac – Sara Lyrics | 13 years ago |

The most haunting of Stevie's songs - I had also heard thought Sara was Stevie's unborn child that was lost or aborted - that when the father ('I think I had met my match") found out she was pregnant he was angry instead of joyed and that's where the line "But when you build your house Then call me home" came from as he didn't want the responsibility at this time but she was saying to call me if you ever want to settle down. When she says "now it's gone" I always thought she was talking about Sara - it's easy to understand why she will sometimes get emotional singing her songs. |

Love your comments Ramune - what you eloquently said is the way I feel about the song - it is song of hope to me - (love the Thomas reference, agree) I thought about the lines in this song when I decided to retire early at age 53 - everybody was saying "you should stay, you're so good at this, you're too young" but I couldn't stay in a place where "stay here with every single hope you had shattered" all the time. I decided to come up screaming and left and have not looked back. Very sad about the lead singer not being able to get the same inspiration from the song as I and many others did. |

| The Beatles – Free as a Bird Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| When I first heard that their was going to be "new" Beatles song coming out before this was released I was thinking, Oh no, somebody is going to to put together a piece of junk to cash in - The first time I heard the song I absolutely froze in my tracks - there they were again making a beautiful & haunting song that sounded just like the old band would have done it. To hear George's guitar and John's voice again like that was amazing. I was 10 when the Beatles came to the US for the first time and grew up listening to them - even with all the technological & media advances in music, video, sounds, etc. nothing can touch them. My sons like the Beatles but they don't understand the hype - lol, told them you'd had to been there to understand what it was like to get the new albums and hear so many new sounds and thoughts. | |
| Duran Duran – All You Need Is Now Lyrics | 13 years ago |

Loved D-D in the 80's and this is why I like this song - it sounds a lot to me like the 80's D-D. Really like the lyrics, it's like pongratz said it is about focusing on the now - it would be nice to be back in 1983 and be 30 years younger but you have to roll with the present. There are little sexual messages in most of DD songs and that's the way I take this one. I see from the lyrics a young girl from the 80's who may have lost confidence in her looks and would be shay and stay in the shadows, but Simon is saying that you you've still got it: "When you move into the light You're the greatest thing alive" lots of girls in their 40's & 50's are still hot but they never hear it from anyone - the song says "And you sway in the moon The way you did When you were younger" that the older girl just needs some encouragement to party like they did when they were younger |

| Shawn Colvin – Sunny Came Home Lyrics | 13 years ago |
| Great Song - heard it today - I missed somewhat on this one. I worked as a high school counselor and always thought it was about a student coming home from school, sitting down and building an explosive from the box of tools line. I saw a "list of names" at work two different times that was kind of a revenge list. The line "walking on a wire" describes a lot of high school students. I had missed the line about grabbing a sweater which shows, as many have said, she is burning down the house. Love the line "It's time for a few small repairs she said". | |
