Sorry to burst your pagan bubble sister but that is exactly what it is about. I was on Haight Ashbury during the late sixties and seventies, lived there, and we used silver spoons to fix with as to not get toxins in the drug. Of course the drug itself was a toxin, what did we know we were kids. I dig Wicca myself but this song has nothing to do with it. But hey, don't let anyone step on your groove baby, it can mean what ever you like. So mote it be. |

Your close, much closer than the rest of these guys. I lived on Haight Ashbury back in the late sixties and seventies, saw the Eagles perform on the best LSD you could lay your hands on. Of course we all paid for our drug use and mania, nothing to be proud of. The song referrs to the fact that many squares ended up on skid row trying to keep up with the party chics, you know strung out and using whom ever he could to get more. |

They think that because back in the sixties and seventies this type of hippy code language was in all the great songs almost. I know, I was there and flyin high baby. Dig it? Lucy In the sky with diamonds was about LSD, strawberry fields was a pot thing, and don't even get me started on the Doors. I am not bragging about my drug use, it was stupid and I paid the long term consequences. But you kids now days simply don't get it, and you never will. You had to be there in the moment, part of that rising tide of change. We thought anything was possible, and it was. |

In the seventies we used to use a silver spoon to melt our smack because it will not leeche toxins into the drugs. Of course the drug itself was toxic, and I have no idea if the theory was correct. I have been clean now for years, but this is about heroin use, plain as day. It was considered cool back in the day to have this type of hippy code language in your music. Sort of like an inside joke makes you feel as if you are in the know and everyone else is not. |
