I think the song is about someone in a relationship with someone who hurts them, either physically or emotionally, and they're trying to gather up enough confidence to end it. The energy of the music itself seems to say that they're trying to make themselves angry, possibly to make the break easier. "I feel ashamed, again and again Nothing to give, and no one to blame During the day, I guess I'm okay" They're realizing something's wrong but still trying to justify staying. "At night, I sleep by your side Waiting for you, to give me a sign I'm counting the days And there's nothing to say" They've fully realized the problem, but are still not wanting to do anything, they're resigned to live in the less-than-ideal situation. "Ahhhhhhh I hope I can feel and see the change stop the bleed inside and feel again Cut the chain of lies You've been feeding my veins I've got nothing to say to you" The problem has gotten worse, but they're still hesitant to do anything, wondering if leaving will even make them feel better. "I hope I can chill and stay the same stop the bleed inside and feel again Cut the chain of lies I've been beating myself (and beating and beating myself) Without nothing to say to you" They've put together a plan and are going to act on it, and are hoping things will turn out alright. They're gathering up their courage by reminding themselves they're a victim, and are getting angry in preparation for the coming confrontation. That's just my take. |
