U2 – Trip Through Your Wires Lyrics 15 years ago
I think alistrine 13 is right about the sin aspect, I sense there is a real two way temptation. Maybe they are both married, or at least, she is. She obviously cares for him by clothing him, and he obviously wants more water, but it can only go so far. I see something slightly different in the thunderstorm metaphor though. There is a storm coming, might shake things up, meaning maybe she will get a divorce. So, the raincloud represents the possibility that he will eventually get the water he wants. But, I suppose it could be the water of truth as well.

To me this song is about a man in a bad relationship where maybe he is abused in some way, probably verbally. Then he meets a woman who treats him with respect. But there is some barrier, maybe she is in a relationship too, so all she can do is wet his lips. That is why there is no more water in the well, why there can't be, and why he can't decide if she is an angel for staying faithful to her relationship or a devil for making him want her so much. Tripping through her wires represents to me his telepathic connection with her, the only connection they can have.
