| Timbuk3 – The Future's So Bright, I Gotta Wear Shades Lyrics | 14 years ago |
|
The song probably has a dark side, but to hell with the artist. I interpret this as part of the optimistic 80's...when people believed that things were possible...when capitalism wasn't considered bad...etc. I freakin' hate how pessimistic this country has been since the 80's. Now we have fear, guilt, etc., but mostly, everyone is demanding that we sacrifice. We used to have hope...used to have pride in our American ingenuity. Well, dammit, I KNOW that we can think our way through the worst problems. I still have and always will have unflinching hope...and because of that, my future is so bright, I gotta wear shades. And to the people that hate me for my hope and pride, two words: Mark Zuckerberg. "He that is good for making excuses is seldom good for anything else." ~Benjamin Franklin |

| Van Halen – Sunday Afternoon in the Park Lyrics | 14 years ago |

Fair Warning was my first album that I ever bought. Although it doesn't have many hits, I really enjoyed this album and still listen to it. Sunday Afternoon in the Park was an unexpected treat that I listened to several times cuz it was such a funky groove. I often seek out this song whenever I feel...fuzzy. |

Raw. Fast. Tight. And most of all, it expressed deep feelings that we all feel from time to time, but rarely express publically. |

| Black Sabbath – The Mob Rules Lyrics | 14 years ago |
|
Great music, but I dislike the loser lyrics. People who feel powerless wished mobs ruled, cause, as part of a mob, they could have some power. But the mob does not rule. A mob can certainly do some damage if people gets out of control, but most of the time the people are under control. And being under control is what people really dislike...so they have escapist music, movies, etc. This dislike of being controlled at the very core of rock, metal, rap, punk, etc. It's all about sticking it to the man. And what better way than a mob! |

| Black Sabbath – The Sign Of The Southern Cross Lyrics | 14 years ago |
|
I think erasmus is definitely in the ballpark. While listening to this song for the bazillionth time, I had a day dream. It was a viking chief funeral...his body was being burned at sea. The burning mast cross was the sign of the southern cross...symbolizing the destination of a true warrior: Vahalla (small world west of wonder)...a place where northerners see the wonders of the world (epitomized by the Southern Cross star constellation that previous traveling vikings told stories about). The vikings were masters of the sea and, thus, their heaven would reflect that. Also, the funeral is the chief's final lesson to the young: "Don't live for pleasure, make your life a treasure". There's more to the day dream, but hey, it's just a day dream...fan fic of the song if you will. |

| Pink Floyd – Shine On You Crazy Diamond (Parts I - V) Lyrics | 15 years ago |

This is the song I want to play at my brother's funeral...hopefully many years from now. He introduced me to Pink Floyd and is a special wonderful person. He definitely is a diamond in the rough, but if you got to know him, he shined. |

In college, I indulged my weird side a bit...and thus loved this piece. I found it hypnotic...good for meditation. I even went to sleep to it once, making it repeat over and over. I woke up with no side effects that I know of !%$#%@%#@%^(*&^%*&^%FV&^%*^%^&%$*&$%$*& *(& ^(*&% (*&IHB (YR ^%R*&(G ) *&T*^% (* |

| The Beatles – March of the Meanies Lyrics | 15 years ago |
|
I remember watching this movie a young child. I interpreted the trippiness as just silliness, but the powerful classical music and rock made a big impression on me. Big Blue Meanies made a particular impression on me...the march pace, the impending doom, etc. When my family bought the album, I played the whole thing several times...especially BBM. And the thing I learned the most was that *meanies* are really just like us, just so bitter they attack what they think they can't join. A real self-image problem. Thus there really is no evil people...just evil behavior based on warped belief systems. |
