R.E.M. – All the Best Lyrics 14 years ago
Yeah, reads to me as a rant against critics of their work. "I'm in a part of your dreams that you don't even understand" is a fantastic line, perhaps one of my favourite R.E.M. lyrics. Full of swagger and arrogance because they have nothing to prove.

That's what I thought to begin with but having listened to it again, and with the link to Neil Young's song I'm pretty sure I'm hearing "Please ask Neil..."

R.E.M. – Oh My Heart Lyrics 15 years ago
This song is a follow-up to "Houston" from the "Accelerate" album and charts the return of that song's protagonist to New Orleans after the tragedy of Hurricane Katrina to help with rebuilding.

The line "the storm didn't kill me, the government changed" is a re-writing, and the most obvious link to "Houston" which started with the lyric "if the storm doesn't kill me, the government will."

R.E.M. – Turn You Inside Out Lyrics 15 years ago
To me, it's like a person in a relationship realising that they have a hold over the other person and wondering if they should use that hold for their own advantage. Almost using it as a comfort blanket (what I choose not to do."

The parts sung by Mike Mills are a reply to Stipe's assertions of control from the other half of the relationship.
