Architects – Day In Day Out Lyrics 14 years ago
I think this song is about something deeply hurtful happening to Sam Carter and it's about the lessons he's learned from this experience, which he wishes to share with the listeners so that they can learn from his mistakes, and follow the right path the first time around :)

"The years I've put into this
It could take a second
to tear down years of work
And we won't get these days
back again (back again)"

This introductory verse is just Sam talking about living in the present and how important that is. I suppose this could be drawn from personal experience, but the great thing about these lyrics is that, even though it may be something Sam himself learned from a personal experience, these words are applicable to anyones life :D

"I can't understand why I've been put here
I'm stuck in a world of sympathy
With nobody watching over me
And the words roll over and over
Yet our hearts will never be lifted
Someone, tell me how I've ended up here
With nobody watching over me?"

I don't quite understand this part, but I think it could be Sam talking about being in a bad situation, in which, you get sympathy that you don't want because you don't want help (quite masculine, really) or where you're simply inconsolable. I'm not really sure.. o.O

"We need to bring back the days we used to love
Before all the colour drains away"

These lyrics are congruent with the theme of living in the present; carpe diem, so to speak. These lyrics tell me that it's worth striving to get back something you love instead of simply letting the colour drain away.

"To all those not living in the here and now
To all those not living in the here and now
To all those not living in the here and now
To all those (sing it loud)
Where did they go?
The days we used to know
Where did they go?"

I like this section of the song, it's like a signal to go apeshit :D I think his basic message is to live in the here and now, forget your inhibitions and to seize the moment. Also, there's a hint of pensive thought at the end.. ("where did they go? the days we used to know") he looks back on his fond past and, despite encouraging himself and others to live in the here and now, he's saying that it's not that simple. This song is full of inspiration and motivation, it's one of my favourites from the entire album.

The line that really concludes this song (for me) is the line: "Have I forgotten what it feels like?". I like to think of this line as both a rhetorical question, for the listeners to answer and to make relevant to their lives, and also a question that Sam is asking himself. He's forgetting the past that he has always been so fond of, and it's slightly saddening and unpleasant, but he's been telling himself to move on all along. He's naturally forgotten, through no fault of his own, and he can now move on with his life :)

Attack Attack! (USA) – Fumbles O'Brian Lyrics 14 years ago
I love this song! :3

The intro is obviously a bit... peculiar, but if you look past it (as many, I'm sure, will not) then you will find a great song! <3

Queens of the Stone Age – Regular John Lyrics 14 years ago
REGULAR JOHN --

It's a party, it's from the narrative of the male, who may have a low self-esteem or is shy; his name's 'Regular John'. This may also just be a song talking about any guy who is shy or lacks the confidence to talk to a girl, but I digress... he meets a girl he finds attractive, possibly at a party where name-changing is skipped, or perhaps he's simply seen this girl hence "Who are you girl?". She feels the same, spots him across the room and thinks "Who are you boy?". The next lines, I think, could possibly be their shared thoughts: "Bet I know what you're up to, can I come along?", this could possibly mean their intentions; they both came to this party/gathering to 'hook up' and wish to get with each other. Assuming this is from the point of view of 'Regular John', he is told that her number is written on the wall by a peer, "Your number's on the wall, I just had to call". It was an opportunity he would not pass up. But, as he knows, it can be hurtful to rush into relations with females like this... but his attraction, her allure, is so strong that he is willing to take the risk, "I'm not the only one, who will run with a knife".

The opening lines of the chorus, "Open up your eyes, open up your room, open up your arms", are the words of 'Regular John'. Two young, healthy, party-goers just hoping to get into each other's trousers, looking for some fun. But, considering the rest of the chorus, these lines have other connotations. "One six two seven eight, two six three seven eight nine" - the numerals that her home phone number consist of. The following lines could be 'Regular John' and this girl's conversation, pre or post-coitus, who knows? I presume he'd heard a rumour about her father, "I heard he ran away", and he decided that he'd better not take advantage of this girl, his attraction to her is more than simple physical attraction. He wants her to be happy, he places her happiness over his sexual gratification. That's when you know a guy's in love (I kid). The mystery of this enchanting female increases dramatically, "who are you girl?", this line is repeated because 'Regular John' simply has so many questions about her. He's astonsihed and fascinated by her, and wishes to know more! The succeeding lines are him telling her how much he likes her, and wants to spend time with her: "Anyway, any time or any place, I'll just hang around".

The outro is simply the lines "Open up your eyes, open up your room, open up your arms, open up your door". A repeat of how, he wants to get with her physically but how he also wants to get into her mind and her heart. He wants her to feel comfortable with him. Although these lines could be interpreted in a positive, lovey-dovey way, I believe they're intended to be mostly sexual.

A fucking brilliant song, one of my favourites! I first heard it on the 'Over the Years and Through the Woods' live DVD! It rocks! Especially the guitars playing in harmony! They couldn't have begun their careers, or their debut fucking album, with a better song!

Bring Me the Horizon – Don't Go (feat. Lights) Lyrics 15 years ago
Lights makes the ending so much more emotional, like someone has died... or is leaving forever, makes me teary. I think these lyrics could be confessional, as in, it's about Oli's childhood.

"Got out alive but with scars I can't forget
This kid back in school, subdued and shy
An orphan and a brother and unseen by most eyes"

Growing up, learning harsh lessons which are never forgotten. Living life hidden, withdrawn from everything... possibly a victim of bullying.

It could be about Oli's or one of the other guys' childhoods, but it could also be a narrative; fictional but still conveying an important message.

"Don't go, I can't do this on my own
Don't go, I can't do this on my own
Save me from the ones that haunt me in the night"

About the passing of a parent [?] or possibly another close relative or friend. The feeling of loss, grief, is haunting the person and they can't cope with it.

Whatever you take from these lyrics, this song is full of emotion. Lights' voice emphasises the power of the emtion of this song. I love this song, and can't understand why some people dislike BMTH so much!

Bring Me the Horizon – Visions Lyrics 15 years ago
I think this song is about life, and how to live life properly... you have to be truthful, to yourself and your loved ones. You have to live life with vigour and honesty.

"This is a call to arms, so grab your guns and get your horses.
Only the dead have seen the end of this fight.
This is a call to arms, so all you fallen soldiers sing with me:
Death or glory?"

These lines, I believe, attest to the idea of living life thoroughly. The lines advise that you don't sit around and let life roll by: 'grab your guns and get your horses' and live life!

"No, we can't leave until you tell me everything.
So come clean, don't talk in tongues.
It's time to bring out your dead.
And the skeletons that you've been hiding.
Tell me everything I need to know."

This may be directed generally, at society, or to a loved one. The message that I think is being conveyed, is one of honesty. How lies are temporary and unhelpful, the only way to live happily is to 'bring out your dead and the skeletons that you've been hiding'.

Another angle that this song could be looked at from, is one looking into a intimate relationship.

"I've been hiding in these trenches for far too long."

This line could have one of two different meanings:

1- A guy/girl is confessing their affection for the other and are coming out of their 'trenches'.
2- In a relationship, one of the partners is revealing a detail about themselves that their partner never knew.

I could go on, but i'll stop... for now :D

Love this album, every second is imbued with intense emotion.

Bring Me the Horizon – The Fox and the Wolf (feat. Josh Scogin) Lyrics 15 years ago
This song is just... one and a half minutes of brutality!!

Anyway, the lyrics:

"You said you can't get to Heaven unless you get high.
But, there's no word of Hell on the way back down."

These lines are about how, even if you're warned about drugs and their effects, you don't really know about what can go wrong until you experience it yourself.

The next lines, until "But, now it's a circle all of the time.", are all about how you are captured by the addiction. You may be naive, you want instant gratification, so you take the drug and fall to the relentless grip of addiction...

My favourite line, "You can't run with the foxes and yet hunt with the wolf." is about how you drugs expel you from society. You become tangled in the world of drugs, and you can't fight the addiction and live a normal life.
