Leonard Cohen – Hallelujah Lyrics 15 years ago
continued. OOPS, just found there was another last verse that states that we are all alone(lonely even). Through that we must still raise our voices in praise to God.

Leonard Cohen – Hallelujah Lyrics 15 years ago
I feel a mastery of Hebrew Mysticism, and even if this anthem was penned prior to his Bhuddist journey, it seems to me that he had done some Bhuddist observation.
The verse where she tied you to the kitchen chair, she brings him down so many notches by taking him from the high thrown to the mundane kitchen chair. Quite a demotion I would say. Her sexual guiles took power over him which is evidenced by the analogy to Sampson(sp.) losing his strength when Delilah(sp.) cut his hair. She made him weak by sexual gratification. The response to the gratification was a base Hallelujah. What is there to this HALLELUJAH? First verse revealed the baffled king was on to something feeling closer to God with this word of praise to God. Second verse, although twisted, he was still taken to the heights of praise. A latter verse shows the beauty of sexual peak which some say brings us closest to God. He references the Holy Dove as being a part of this union. Every breath we drew was in the glorification of God, in the form of Hallelujah. The verse that pulls it all together for me was not sung by Cohen in his London appearance. To me it shows the maturity of great spiritual wisdom. First it acknowledges that he concludes that it's the journey and not the destination. Secondly, it shows his understanding that nothing matters (even though it all went wrong), so why not make beauty (I couldn't feel, so I learned to touch) wherever possible. Upon shedding all the worldly desires he rises to the place of enlightenment(I'll stand before the Lord of song with nothing on my tongue but HALLELUJAH.) When he comes to this place, he lets go of the self-judgement that leads to depression, and ascends to a higher plane even here on earth with the purest of Hallelujahs. Pure or not, words have light. None of his Hallelujahs were wrong, and they all had their own contexts for where he was at at a given time. What seemed preferable to me and I think to him, was having nothing but joy in his heart, so that all that was on his tongue was what???? HALLELUJAH!!!!!!!!Brilliant!
