My interpration is incredibly biased, but here it is. I once fell in love with a very close friend of mine. I one day told her everything, everything I felt. She interupted me half way through one of my thoughts with a quiet stop. I asked stop what, she said "stop almost falling in love with me". I Hear this song as way to describe my situation with her. " She told me look the other way, she told me boy bite your toung... that's just not the way friends behave" is basically what she told me because she knew it would change our relationship and our friendship. She wasn't ready, that's why she said no, she had been hurt before and I live far away. "Two fallen sparks, one willing fool" we had both been hurt, I was willing to try, but she wanted nothing to do with love, she needed time to herself. Now I am a literal thousand miles away and can't say a word to her because it isn't good for me, forcing me to "love her from afar" and I know she will never feel the same and "that is just the way we will remain". "This shouldn't come as a suprise" is me saying that how could I not love her, she is so beautiful. I write this hoping she reads it, this song in perfect detail describes someone who falls for a good friend that doesn't feel the same back for whatever reason. |

This one isn't hard for me because I lived it and still am. He has to love her from afar, because she doesn't love him. They are friends, but he wants more, she doesn't though hence "That's not the way friends behave." The "crumbs of your love" is the taste of her love, that he gets through their friendship. The line "you light me up, from across the room, two fallen sparks, one willing fool" could mean that they both have been hurt by love before and he is a "fool" and willing to take the risk of loving her, but she rejected him because she has been hurt to many times and now he is forced to love her from afar "and that will be the way [they] remain". But there is some bias in my interpretation, so i could be wrong. |
