It could very well be about a frat party. I'm not sure which one (or both), but either Henley or Frey have ties to Gainesville, Florida (as does Tom Petty), home of the University of Florida. There's a dance called the gator where you flop to the floor and lie on your stomach and wiggle your arms and legs, which originates from a football game many years ago when I believe Steve Spurrier was the quarterback. The Gators were well ahead of their opponent, and on a play in the fourth quarter the whole Gator defense flopped down to their stomachs when the ball was snapped so the opponent could score, thus giving Spurrier another chance to get the ball and set a season record for passing or whatever. Jimmy Buffet, a long-time Florida resident and the "Monstertones" are singing backup in this also. |
