My interpretation will assume that the lyrics do say "win" instead of "wear", and I will support the argument that Mandy represents heroin. This song serves as the singers explanation of his relationship with heroin. Since his relationship with heroin was so intimate, the singer appropriately gives the drug characteristics of a seductive woman. Hey ya hey hey hey ya hey hey.. She said everything youve learned yeah youve been told -A reference to the general apathy that can result from drug abuse. Drugs have made him believe there is no truth in the world; he only knows what he has been told to believe. How can I get you to forget for awhile -The emotion deadening effects of heroin are enticing. As his apathy undoubtedly morphs into depression, he can hide these dark emotions only under the numbing effects of heroin. These are the physiological effects of the drug that drive him to take the drug. Shes at my door wont leave me alone -He is physically addicted to the drug. His drug abuse has made his body lose its ability to produce natural endorphins. The pain and discomfort caused by this phenomenon serve as a constant, obsessive reminder of the numbing effects of heroin. Thus, he never truly gets his mind off of heroin. And she says that shell make my pain go bye bye -Again, a reference to the enticing effects of heroin. But I know about Mandy cause Mandy you never forget -The physiological effects of heroin make it hard for him to forget it. If she was a blonde Id tell her go home But Mandys a brunette -This serves as a reference to black tar heroin. He liked his drug strong, and only black tar heroin would suffice. And she got noting left to wear (win) -Heroin is not a rationale creature. It is simply a chemical that man abuses. Heroin itself, has no motives for its actions. It simply is. Thus, this chemical truly has nothing to win. Shell get your heart forget your heart shell get your heart again -His addiction is so strong he does not feel that he has the strength or heart to overcome his addiction. And she got nothing left to wear Shell get your heart forget your heart shell get your heart again yeah my friend Hey ya hey hey hey ya hey hey.. She said everything youve earned yeah youve rolled -A reference to the singer's impulsive nature. He probably had a gambling problem. Ill double it up if you give me a try -As his drug addiction completely takes over his life he now considers, or possibly is, selling heroin in order to sustain his addiction. Shes at my door wont leave me alone And she said that shell make my pain fly by Twine the slot machine of the century part Vietnamese and Hinduese -The drug is probably shipped from Vietnam, or some foreign country he doesn't know. Living with the drug is the biggest gamble he can make. Shell set you free like an indica tree -The indica tree is considered a panacea in certain Indian Ocean states. Heroin seems to cure all his problems while he is under the influence of the drug. In the back of a black Cadillac limozine -You can take the drug anywhere. The singer was probably driving to a show in a limo when he did the drug. |
