"Revolutionaries wait For my head on a silver plate Just a puppet on a lonely string Oh, who would ever want to be king?" I don't know about all of the Christian imagery for all of you, but this song looks to be pretty clearly mentioning the French Revolution here. Which is apt, given the album's cover art. I don't this is about Jesus, or John the Baptist, or whoever; it feels far more like a "nature of revolution" sort of thing. |

I had the exact same reaction the first time I heard it. According to Gerard Way in Rolling Stone (issue 1119: Dec. 9, 2010), it's absolutely a direct reference to Sweet's "Ballroom Blitz." Way's waxing poetic on glam rock, actually, and in reference to "Ballroom Blitz" says: "They completely break the fourth wall when the song opens up and they're calling each other by name. We emulated that on our song 'Vampire Money.' It literally starts out the way 'Ballroom Blitz' does." I hope that helps. |
