Mountain – For Yasgur's Farm Lyrics 15 years ago
There are some slight, but significant changes to the lyrics I'd like to suggest. The appear here in CAPS. for clarity:

Who am I but you and the SON?
A SLANT reflection IN everyone
Was it me who let you walk away?
Were you the one or is it we're the same?

What are we in time going by?
A simple story of a younger life
HALF IN DREAM and somehow through the day
We haven't come so far to lose our way

Look at me
I believe it's true
You're a part of me
I'm a part of you

Love is only what we come to live
The waking, breathing in all we give
A crystal passing reflected in our eyes
Eclipsing all the jealousy and lies

Look at me
I believe it's true
You're a part of me
I'm a part of you

Quiet as the voices in a dream,
Without TO SHADOW the things I've seen
Remember the evening I let you walk away?
Were you the one, or is it we're the same?

Look at me
I believe it's true
You're a part of me
I'm a part of you

Also, "slight" reflection should read "slant" reflection. As in each of us is in each other, just a little bit...,

The lyrics are incorrect on most (general) lyric sites. The above ones are mostly correct, I believe the third line in the second paragraph should be "Half in dream" not "Having dreams". I agree with kirbsta, that it is about lost love. But considering the title, the site at which a generation yearned to return to the garden (i.e woodstock) I believe the author is recalling his passed child-like nature. I see this as a response to Blood Sweat and Tears 1968 album," The Child if Father to the Man". As for the author "letting you walk away", I believe he's referring to growing up. Being part of each other and changing the "sun" in the first stanza to "son" can make this work. Yes, my wife picked up on the way the singer sings the chorus vs. what the words say. They are incongruent and point to an extreme yearning, a plea, a prayer. I simply love this song.
