So this is just my personal interpretation. Because there have been many times in my life during conversations where I would like to have said, "No please please don't go all supernatural on me" and by it I would mean, don't start talking to me about God. It makes me sad. Or maybe I need real help, I am sick and in a terrible situation and you say "God has a plan" and I think "oh no..." There isn't much evidence for this in the lyrics. You'd kind of have to take the song as a metaphor for this interpretation. But I think it has potential because of "Into my arms": "I don't believe in an interventionist God, but I know darling that you do" As to what hellas said five years ago about the rhythm, it totally makes me want to dance to. Though I usually listen to it lying in bed after I've taken some kind of sleeping pill. It reminds me of that Nina Simone song Sinner man. They're pretty similar. |
