I looooove this song. Its the ultimate song that gets you in the mood to just not care about anything/anyone. Whatever problem I have I can just listen to this and know I'm not alone and realize that really, it's not that big a deal. The music video ROCKS and I love all the "if you ever felt wrong", "if you ever felt used", "if you ever felt dirty" stuff because anybody who watches that video has felt one of those things (i know ive felt more than one). to me, this song makes it ok to scream IM NOT OK AND I WANT TO F**K THE WORLD CAUSE I JUST DONT CARE!!!!! :) |

I think it's about breaking up with his girlfriend. The first few verses are explaining that his life is collapsing on him. He feels life is too complicated and "demanding" and that he knows he can't do anything to make her stay but he wants to know if she wants to make it work or not. Then the part with him seeing her lying next to him is when he never thought it would come to this point and he can't believe it's all falling apart. The chorus, I think, is the most obvious. He's telling her (and himself) that he can live without her and he's moving on. In the video everything is bursting into flames and it looks like hell and the whole band is screaming and miserable so I think that goes along with the song in the way that the song is saying I'm moving on and the video is showing how hard it is and that his heart is being torn apart. But this is just the way I see it. I'm sure it's different for everyone :) |

I love this song so much. To me it means that there is too much emphasis on doing something with your life and even just enjoying life. To me it says why bother? Why can't we just be here just to be here? Let the days go by and lose track of time and don't worry if we are enjoying life. Good message to me:) |

I think that the whole thing about lottery verse steady paycheck is referring to Conor or whoever he wrote the song in the eyes of. The person says that "these things take forever, I especially am slow" its the person's personality that is timid but he loves the girl or boy so much and "wonders if you will come home" and in the lottery quote he's saying that he would rather be timid and slow and just have a girl or boy whom he loves than just jumping at everything and hoping to score an amazing relationship because that's who he is. |
