Fever Ray – Triangle Walks Lyrics 15 years ago
I apply the lyrics to a more general meaning- trying to protect herself and loved ones from temptation- because I can relate to that general theme more than I could being a mother. "An apple" is the archetype for all temptation and I believe a berry plant is just another symbol for temptation because berries are often poisonous, but have always had a symbol of wealth, luxury, and desire for someone surviving the wilderness, which are all tempting. Her "house", or family, "comes with" temptation trying to reach them, which stands outside the actual "house"- her stronghold or place of safety.

The one outside (possibly the Devil) is continually feeding off the temptation. He "eats [them] out of house and home", which is an idiom meaning that someone is eating so much that they cost you your house, and in this case, the temptation eats at them and takes away their stronghold or place of safety. He is "keeping us awake" or trying to push her and her loved ones into the temptation.

The next part of the song just discusses the hardship of continually facing that temptation and needing a break from it, perhaps needing a savior (no, I'm not religious but great literary work and poetry- a song- all have themes from the Bible to add depth to the meaning).

The next part, "5 AM" shows how restless the temptation makes her, the triangle walks I interpret as connecting back to the holy trinity, which helps her find solace in her day's struggles. She "throws sticks at" or tries to push away those "magpies" or incessant chatters (adding to the relentlessness theme) that gave into temptation and laugh at her for not.

She hopes- "maybe" she will "dream again", or be free from temptation if "no one" is "awake", or the relentlessness of temptation ceases and she can finally sleep.

Sia – Cloud Lyrics 15 years ago
I think this song is meant to guide a distraught person. She tells herself to be productive, by using the "hour" to create "something new", and then "throw away the flower", perhaps given by the one who hurt her, which makes her "blue". I think the chorus is trying to make the pessimistic distraught person be more optimistic. She makes herself the distraught person saying she is a "dark" cloud, or one that is full of sadness, etc. which is sung more sadly, but then says that the "dark cloud" is "swelling with rain"- rain is something that purifies and brings hope, therefore sung in a more cheerful manner.
