This song provokes strong feelings about my small Massachusetts hometown. First time I heard this I was driving down one of the scenic roads in my town after a snow storm. New England looks beautiful in 3 conditions. Middle of the summer, The entire fall, and with fresh snow on the ground. It makes you feel like you're in an Emerson poem. There is nothing more beautiful than a colonial house covered in snow. Matt and Kim are from New England so I can tell they were thinking about these images when they wrote the song. It may be tough for someone who isn't from the northeast to understand but we New Englanders get it! |

The song is about how America conducts it's foreign policy at home. America does things without regard for how it will effect the people. The military wives husbands are kiled fighting wars. The media reinforces this by spouting propaganda to the masses who will believe whatever they hear on tv even though it's just blabbering (La-di-da-di-da-didi-didi-da). Celebrities in america are generally liberal and think they know how to solve the problem, but it's clear they just make it worse by talking about things they don't understand.
