At a recent concert Jhon Cooper said it was about a young couple that wasn't ready to have a child so they had an abortion done. They went through drepression after the abortion so they decided to get a counselor. He said that they should treat the abortion like it was a death in the family so the couple bought a casket, headstone and a cemetery plot to hold her funeral for Lucy(the name they decided on)That's the meaning of this song, hope it helped. |

This song definitely has a biblical meaning. This line "I am not my own" comes from a verse in the bible. "What? Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?" (1 Corinthians 6:20 KJV) So as you can see he is talking about God and how he needs him in his life. |
