Well.... This is definitely no love letter to parades or anarchism or the like. Anarchy is indeed a fundamental state of nature. The human world is currently an anarchy of nations, though those nations are becoming larger and less hindered by mapped borders than ever. If anything, this is a rallying cry to those who give no credence to anything but life itself, and to living it well and for all others as well as the self. If everyone thought of all others first, everyone would be thought of. This song is the only song to have ever moved me to tears, and I'm sad to say they were not tears of content. They were definitely sad ones...hope has indeed become bitter, and will cause us all great pain when she spreads her wings, because when you corner anything and threaten it, it will strike out. Hope is no different. May the end of the Human Road bring a wiser path. |

I think the prominence of the guitar and the toned back string section gave the record a different kind of power than, say, "Born into trouble..." in that it is an angrier sound. Almost more active in its despair and hopefulness...or...no...I should just say...it's got more of a punk feel to it. Yeah, angrier is a good word. Previous records were no doubt full of rage the good kind, but they were offset by the mournful beauty of their string arrangements. They approached their music differently here, and to good effect. I think if you want strings you should just listen to "BITATSFU" or "HHLUABSOLSGTCOOR"...If you are angry, if you need motivation to go to those barricades, as so few of us have gone, this is the record for you. I could go on more coherently but scotch! Scotch is impeding my ability to do so. Also, I love turning Silver Mt. Zion records into acronyms....utterly pointless. This song is beautiful and tragic, as most of their tunes, and is an indicting mirror held up to our world and ourselves. |

Well... An indictment of Civilization. |

| M83 – Moonchild Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| This seems to be about creation, and in particular, the ability for thought to create the universe our forms exist in, while really all we desire is the Eternal Wisdom of no-thing. Everything else is distraction. | |

| A call to arms against the slow destruction of humanity? | |
| The Constantines – Young Lions Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| The line "every beast has its poison, every lion has its victim" does not a positive statement make. I think this is simultaneously an indictment of the silliness of youth and a call to use all that powerful youthful energy to do something...well...something glowing. | |
