Actually Sick, you're right, but at the sametime you're wrong. Though people do dance with words to make their....point more appealing, he is right in saying that the Christian faith isn't a religion. Religion comes from the latin word religioun which means to tie or bind back. This would be any belief system that says we must do "blank" to bind ourselves back to God or the higher being in that religion. Christian doctrine says man cannot bind themselves back to God and only Jesus can do that. Whether you believe Jesus was just a human or not is regardless, the Christian faith believes He is God and so their faith is that only God can bind them back to God making it more of a relationship and not a religion by origin definition. Now, the word religion has indeed added meaning to kind of include Christianity, but origin is where the truth lies in a word. What it originally meant. Sorry, I love studying words and wanted to add in on this. Mycke, I agree with you dude, Christians do give Christians a bad name. |
