I think it is about a girl who is in love with a boy who doesn't really notice. But she doesn't want to make a move on him because she fears to be rejected (thus the title?) and also it's not her style to try to make people like her and she generally keeps her emotions and how she feels to herslef. So she normally acts borderline rude to people. But at the same time she really wants him to be interested in her and cries a lot about it. ._. |

I thought it's like that: She was told bad things about him while he wasn't present and she believed it. He says he didn't want her to feel like he wants her to feel kind of inferior. He only wanted her to want him. But he gets more and more bitter 'If you can't tell /if/ I am lying you don't belong...' (the 'if' is missing in the lyrics above btw) and says that if she doesn't believe him then she should go to someone 'better'. And he is angry at her since she ignores him/ doesn't want her anymore. Essentially: He tries to tell that she got him wrong and now is sad/bitter that she didn't trust him. |
