In high school and love this song. May very well be about english snobbiness, good thought there, but I always thought it was a comment on the cheapness of modern life. The Duchess is a kind of "extraordinary girl" figure in an ordinary world of broken down tvs. While the world crumbles around her, she stays with her honour, believing herself to be some kind of royal princess. The "rodneys" are the ordinary blokes she has to choose from to marry, the modern men, part of the boring world. Whatever, it's an amazing song. |
