| I agree with you. Ronan tends to write more about the general human experience and less about personal matters. | |

Depeche Mode likes to put a lot of commentary into their songs. It part of why i like them so much. This is no exception. I get the impression that this song has more to do with realizing that no one faith is better than another. And that we put too much into something that ultimately has no proof. (i am referring to the end, not god. don't anybody getting their panties in a twist. several previous posts support this, if that info is correct.) Calling john a liar for proclaiming the end and seeing no evidence for it, and allowing that same proclaimation scare us is silly. The song implies that there is one god. In fact, if you know anything about the three faiths named in this song, you would know that they all saw that. The dispute is in who those faiths believe to be the messiah. And before anyone flames me for that one, it is true. We know that the jewish faith and the christian faith acknowledge God as the same being. They merely disagree on the significance of christ. For those that have not study the koran or muslim faith, allah is that same god. But they don't accept christ. The follow the teachings of Muhammad. So essentially, they all follow the same god. They are fighting over one man's interpretation of god. Interpretations that are inherently flawed, because we, as people, are incapable of comprehending all that is god. they are fighting over man's limited understanding. It is pointless and unnecessary. And i got way off topic, but i'm posting it any way, because it is still relevant, especially with some of the other posts i have seen. |
