| In connecting with this song I see that it doesn't have to be about romantic love. I see this song as about regret, missed opportunities, and losing someone you love (not just in death). There must have been someone that he loved who experienced many hardships. He could have done something to help them out or at least relieve some of the pain, but he didn't. He didn't allow them to get as close as they could have been, and thus he was ignorant of what they were facing until they were gone. Now he regrets not seeing their pain and helping them. He pledges to keep his love for them as it's all he can do now. | |

He tends to be fairly straightforward in his songs. This one (I'm assuming) is about not liking where you are. You're always "fighting demons", have no one to support you, and finding it hard to survive. Therefore, you just want to leave, and you've been wanting to for a while, but it seems sort of impossible, hence the "Don't know where it's going, But I've seen it all before. All my life dreaming Of some place so far away". The song doesn't have a final conclusion, so the final verdict seems to be that even if he gets away from a specific place, it's all the same. He can't get away from those feelings. |
