Someone help me out with this one. It's a great song, with an eerie synth line, but I really don't know what the lyrics are supposed to mean. I don't understand the allusions. St. Peter's disease? Not really up on my bible. Suicidal vegetables? Mirror balls? Crystalline ladders? Shiny things? |

| Tool – Right in Two Lyrics | 15 years ago |

A great song, but probably Tool's silliest lyrics ever. Maynard nailed it when he sang "Credulous at best, your desire to believe in angels in the hearts of men. Pull your head on out your hippy haze and give a listen. Shouldn't have to say it all again. The universe is hostile. so Impersonal. devour to survive. So it is. So it's always been." on Vicarious. It seems to me that he's satirizing the views express in Vicarious, while he actually believes what he wrote in Right in Two. He's wrong. We're evolved for conflict. There is finite space and finite resources on this globe, and the group that fights best wins the evolutionary battle. Meanwhile, the group puzzling over what "angels" might think of our behavior is a sad one indeed. |
