| There's definitely a word after "sidewalk". I always thought it was "sidewalk's mean on a young girl's knees". | |

In the first verse, he mentions "one more beer" and refers to his friends "rolling 'round the basement floor". I took this as empty beer bottles, his friends being liquor. Not sure what HP refers to, although I infer from an earlier comment that it might be High Price or something, can anyone confirm. Maybe it's obvious to others but it wasn't always to me but I believe now that the "you" as in "you're a butterfly etc" is the singer, or Elton. I think that portion of the song should be in quotes really. Sweet freedom whispered in my ear, "you're a butterfly, and butterflies are free to fly." Reading it, it's easy to infer that it's either drugs, or a woman that has her hooks in him, but the reference to the truck coming to take me home seems to be a simple suggestion that he's moving out and his friends are coming to help move furniture. |
