Put me in the Revelations/Apocalypse camp. I'm not even a religious person, but to me it's pretty clear that this is about the end of the world, where the chosen few are reunited with Him, yadda, yadda, yadda.
The only question is, "why New Year's Day?"
I think the answer is in the Doomsday Clock. If we were to condense the history of the earth down to one calendar year, life begins in July or so, I think mammals and man appear in December, and the Doomsday clock has us at just seconds until midnight. And after the Doomsday clock hits midnight? That day is New Year's Day. |
