I agree with runningbul1 and Aramisaramis. The soldiers plea to heaven that it may help them gain a victory. Maybe Girogs interpretation is also correct but if it is, then I guess only indirectly. Maybe the soldiers ask heaven to help them so that after victory, they can return to their families and be done with the fighting. That's wild guessing however. Globus did really amazing work with this song. They created a song with great content and rythm, all the while reciting the bloody wars and conflicts Europa has seen in its long existence. |

I've also taken Latin for a few years now and I agree with Tulnekaya. This is definitely not Latin although no Romance language I know really fits. The closest we will probably get is Italian, as Tulnekaya already said. I guess that this translation The resting flame The disappearing shadow The unending night The whispering voice. is quite accurate. Or at least I like to think that it makes sense. |

| Lene Marlin – Never To Know Lyrics | 15 years ago |

To me this song isn't just about that one guy Lene mentions but rather about a (sadly) really common situation in this world: Someone pretends. He or she pretends to be happy, pretends to be carefree or even pretends to be friendly. Not many people actually stop and think about all the little hints they get when talking to someone like that - for instance a too quick smile that doesn't quite reach the eyes. I guess the reason for that is quite simple. Ignorance is bliss and most of the people don't want to know about all the little problems somebody might have. They don't want to see the "real story", they "prefer the lie". And in doing so they "let him go alone". Anyways, that's my interpretation of what this song generally is about. |
