I definitely think this is a breakup song. There doesn't always have to be bitterness in a breakup, sometimes it is just the way it is. And this song describes how you want to let the person that left you know that you'll be ok, if not today then someday. I think that when she says, "I,I will remember you. Not the way you left but how you lived," she is referring to her desire to keep happy memories of their time together. She does not want to remember or dwell on how they left her alone. But this is just totally how I interpret it. I may be biased as I am going through a breakup right now and this song has been my source of comfort. She is a genius. |
