what a song. I think that looking at the morrissey and marr relationship in line with the song is maybe reading too much into it but it is a nice interpretation. I think that it is a great description of the post modern stance that values experience ahead of theory and science. "a tattooed boy from birkenhead" taught the protagonist more about love than the classic romantics, the scientists of love, ever could. Possibly, this is also a reflection of how morrissey felt after music and stardom afforded him the confidence and opportunities to be swept away by experience, rather than take a considerably lesser pleasure from reading about the experiences of others. |

| There is obviously no story to this song but smack is referenced. My interpretation is that the ability to choose to escape effected reed and at times he is telling a junkie's interpretation of the city while they are high. | |

| When Morrissey writes "we won't vote conservative, because we never have, everyone lies" he is referring to the situation in Britain where the tories were continually getting voted in, yet nobody was admitting to voting for them. Like many of his songs this just sounds like London to me. Now my heart is full is another which I think has London written all over it. | |
