| Erykah Badu – Out My Mind, Just In Time Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| Erykah has the raw way of saying exactly what she feels. In the first part of the song she's saying that she would basically do anything for the lover she once had because she says, "I'm a fool for you." These are the things she once did for someone she still truly loves, who once loved her. The song's about her falling out of love, and trying to start anew. Even though she's trying to start anew, just as the second part of the song suggests, she pities herself. The second part starts out with her anger- saying he had it all, but he "built a wall 10 feet tall." She's angry, laughing at it all, and she's going a bit crazy over the loss of someone to whom she worked so hard to show love and honor. Even though she admits being addicted to this person, she realizes her own neuroticism, and realizes she must really walk on her own two feet, alone. The song shows so many transitions of thought not just lyrically, but also musically. Erykah's song almost sounds as thought she's just talking to herself, trying to warn herself she needs to be strong. This is, by far, my favorite Badu song. | |
