| The Used – Wake The Dead Lyrics | 14 years ago |
| In my opinion, its a song about society, likening people to the dead, generalising people to all have the same routine, and mindlessly go about their everyday lives without any real thought or care. | |

Im not sure about this one... The first paragraph seems as though hes talkin about someone who wants to be different, but just isn't, and each time they try to stand out or whatever they get shot down. The rest could be about not being able to do what you want to because of others opinions. You just do what everyone else does, not what you want or that one thing that might be what makes you more successful. |

Im inclined to go down the thought path that SoulofRhymes has gone down. From my perspective: I feel that its about life in general and the mixed emotions that you encounter throughout your life, more from a negative perspective though. Its so easy to focus on the bad things that you have done or have happenned to you, but this only makes things worse and you need to look at the good stuff. When you're down so many things run through your head and you want an escape. Which i guess leads on to what ive written next: The more i listen to it though I also agree with whoever said about the alcoholism, although i dont think ith as to be specific to alcohol. Evil angel is a contradiction, so i think it might be suggesting doing something that feels good, but is bad for you (not necessarily just drugs, perhaps other things too). I also think "I have the answer, spreading the cancer" is perhaps another hint at that, going from optemism to pessimism. He has a solution but its not the "right" one. Also "you are the faith inside of me" suggests it is what keeps him going - whether that be a person, a drug (good or bad), an emotion, religion, or whatever else. I think this might also tie into the chorus although ive not qutie decided how to fit the chorus to it. "I'm a believer, nothing could be worse All these imaginary friends Hiding betrayal, driving the nail Hopeing to find a savior" I think is more specific perhaps to society, Ill suggest perhaps that the first line, is to do with the belief that people are inherently good, the second and third lines are then a contradiction of that saying that people perhaps pretend to be friends for their own benefit, and the fourth line is perhaps that bit of luck, or a person that changes your life and sets you straight again. The song seems to contradict itself. in: "Put me to sleep, evil angel Open your wings, evil angel Fly over me, evil angel Why can't I breathe, evil angel" I feel that the first three lines are almost optemistic, the angel is almost protecting him if you will and then the final line is as if the angel has cut him off, or cast him out or harmed him in some way, which is perhaps why its an evil angel. Or perhaps evil angel could reffer to the inherrent evil, and the inherrent good inside of everybody. I think im going to leave it there as Im beginning to go off on tangents. That and im probably not making too much sense anymore as i ramble on as the more I analyze the song the more i want to say something else xD. I hope ive not contradicted myself too much, and that you guys will understand where im coming from with some of my ideas :) |
