| Lou Reed – Perfect Day Lyrics

you can interpret the lyrics however you like but it's mainly about addiction. Person, drugs, a certain feeling it can be anything but you can sense how this thing rules his world and he's very dependent on it, he's totally obsessed and without it he feels bad about himself. This might be due to some sort of guilt he feels. Or it could be Lou describing his imaginary perfect day. Who knows but what i'm sure the song's not particularly positive, in fact it's depressing because you see a person who's under the influence of the "drug" and feels great at the time though he knows it's not gonna last long and he's gonna feel bad again afterward and the world's gonna be dull and mediocre.
For me the song is about landing on the hard ground after being up in the sky, although the lyrics describe just the blissful flight (still it gives many clues so you can imagine the whole picture.) |

what? love and hate are not basic emotions by any paragraph. Actually it handles the basic instincts like aggression, dominance and territoriality and is called reptilian because it can be found in reptiles too. |

gotta admit this is one great interpretation. Still i don't think Bob was having her hymen in mind. But it could be everything that's what he's great - nobody here is wrong. |

looks like some of you here think Jello degrades alcohol but as Chris90 said he just makes fun of the dumbasses who go out drinking and fighting thinking they're so cool doing it, like drinking is a pose to them. What you think Jello never got shitfaced, bullshit he drank a lot of beer for sure and there's nothing wrong with going out drinking. The purpose and the attitude is what makes the difference. |

i'm a huge Dylan fan but am very disappointed with his christian period. He used to be a freedom fighter, he exposed hypocrisy in all its forms, the kind of man you would never expect to kneel before anybody or to be brainwashed. It's a good thing he returned to his former self afterward. I remember an interview where he was asked what religion he believed in and he answered - i believe in myself. Now that's Bob Dylan. |

Absolutely agree. The point is not that the guy is unappreciated, it's that the guy just don't care too much and he finds it hard to pretend the other way. But he feels alright and comfortable so doesn't see what's the problem with the girl and why she demands all these things from him. I find myself in quite the same situation. |

I'm just sitting here beating on my trumpet
With all these promises you left for me - been there... really great lines.
I love it when Bob is that obvious and just sits there and laughs at everyone who's trying to make something more of the song. |

| Bob Dylan – The Lonesome Death of Hattie Carroll Lyrics

This song here is a masterpiece. The last verse is pure genius cuz Dylan doesn't say there was any fault in the trail - he just leaves the conclusions to the listener. And i love the built up in the choruses and the first time i heard the song i was surprised at the last one.
Isn't it funny that later Zanzieger spent 19 months in jail for misdemeanor, but for killing the poor woman he was sentenced 6... Well now he's dead and i'm kinda glad - one bad man lesser. |
