What I hear: Bad to the bone, sick as a dog Knew it was wrong but I palmed it He has a white Corvette like I wanted, You say you treat ‘em mean to keep ‘em keen - you’re not that nice |

This song is officially titled "Without You" Everything I want I have: Money, notoriety, rivieras. I even think I found God In the flash bulbs of your pretty cameras, Pretty cameras, pretty cameras. Am I glamorous? Baby, am I glamorous? Hello? Hello? Can you hear me? I can be your china doll If you want to see me fall. Boy your so dope, your love is deadly. Tell me life is beautiful, They all think I have it all. I am nothing without you. All my dreams and all the lights mean Nothing without you. Summertime is nice and hot, And my life is sweet like vanilla is. Gold and silver line my heart But burned into to my brain all these stolen images, Stolen images, baby, stolen images. Can you picture this What a life we could've lived? Hello? Hello? Can you hear me? I can be your china doll If you want to see me fall. Boy your so dope, your love is deadly. Tell me life is beautiful, They all think I have it all. I am nothing without you. All my dreams and all the lights mean Nothing without you. We were two kids, just tryin to get out, Live on the dark side of the American dream. We would stay out late, play our music loud, When we grew up nothing was what it seemed. Hello? Hello? Can you hear me? I can be your china doll If you want to see me fall. Boy your so dope, (so dope) your love is deadly. Tell me life is beautiful, They all think I have it all. I am nothing without you. All my dreams and all the lights mean Nothing without you. All my dreams and all the lights mean Nothing if I can't have you. |

ummm... They say I'm wastin' time they say that I'm no good Summer of my, not doing what I should. Call me poison ivy 'cause i'm far from good, Pretty from afar like a dark star. They say I'm dangerous, they think I'm really bad, I'm just making up for what I never had Go out every night whenever I feel sad Oh this drive-by, got me crazy like a drug. I wear my red lipstick, got my make up on, Stumble into trouble, siren with a sad song. They all got girlfriends but I'm the one that they want, Miss America with the blue mascara on. I've spent my whole life driving in cars with boys, Riding 'round town drinking in the white noise. Used to talk about where we'd be and where we'd we go. Now we know, baby, now we know. Spent my whole life wasted in bars with boys. Playin' rock 'n' roll dancing in the loud noise. Used to talk about where we'd be and where we'd we go. Now we know, baby, now we know. Mommy's Mercedes or Billy's pick up truck? Come home late at night and baby picks me up. Tell him "Just drive on and d-don't ever stop. Don't take me home again, take me to a new land." I wear my red lipstick, grab my coat and gun Wonder if this is it, it's darkest before dawn. Sometimes I wanna give in, but I just have to go on. Miss America. Now I'm gone, baby, gone. I've spent my whole life driving in cars with boys, Riding 'round town drinking in the white noise. Used to talk about where we'd be and where we'd we go. Now we know, baby, now we know. Spent my whole life wasted in bars with boys Playing rock 'n' roll dancing in the loud noise. Used to talk about where we'd be and where we'd we go. Now we know, baby, now we know. I was born to live fast, die young, Leave a beautiful corpse, live my life on the run. Got my cash and my Louis Vuitton, Diamonds, and guns. Girls just wanna, just wanna have fun. |

I agree with adonnellyr. A glaring difference between this album and his past works is the straightforwardness of it all. Yes there's the whole Royal Roberston inspiration sprinkled throughout but there's also certainly more "Sufjan" infused into all of these songs. Excuse me from looking into this song through a slight homosexual lens (as I've excused those who look at his songs from heteronormative or exclusively Christian lenses) but this song is incredibly homoerotic. There are undeniably two men present within this song. Two men. Not one man and God or Jesus or what have you. Two men. It is a love song and "I want it all for myself" is simply a statement of that love, longing, and acceptance. |
