this song was a lot more powerful when i first heard it and didnt know that much about it. it still is, but not as much. to be honest, this song is very immature and directed towards teenagers whove gone through heavy depression or emo states becuz of break-ups. im beginning to think when i get older this song will mean nothing to me. teenagers dont deserve to be depressed and the only reason why the pain depressed teens face is so terrible is becuz their young, isolated, going through several changes and worries about life and have sensitive minds, establishing who they are/how they think. until they realize that they need to get past their stains and death inside, they just want to keep this frame of mind. teenagers have a lot. im not saying that they dont know pain, cuz they do know their own kind of hurt that in this stage in life they can choose to be stuck in as a way to live, im saying that yes, it hurts. but life has a bigger picture. why spend all day in these probs when you have a whole world to establish in? i hope they listen to that. cuz a lot of them will look at this reply and get really mad. i know theres something im missing so a teen may point out something to me thatll prove me that what im saying is mean/wrong. you guys have a lot. you know when you get that feeling of happiness you get thats so beautiful when you deal with depression, that makes you feel like theres something around you bigger than yourself, all these feelings youve never had before? you could be living in these all day long and would get a lot more fruit from it. in a way this song by HU is kind of a poor decision cuz it encourages such things. just like LP. be good youth guys; its worth it. this song is about a guy, probably a teen whose been hurt so much, possibly by past relationships, and finds the perfect girl. shes beautiful. hescaptured by everything about her, and falls in love. they get together, do a lot of things they shouldnt, and he begins to think she feels the same way he feels about her. but she cheats on him and he sees her. so all his trust, hope and love for her is smashed cuz she was unimaginally everthing in the world to him, so he finds a weapon and kills both her and the guy from psychotic trauma/shock. and after he realizes how stupid, horrible, heartless, poor and wrong it was to do. hes leaving this as a message at her grave trying to say hes so sorry but so mad at the same time. he regrets what he did but hes still furiously enraged at her. and his emotional and hard past is filling him with this pain making him cut himself and go through so much hurt 24/7. and on top of all this he has the pressure on his shoulders of being caught (possibly the reason its called black dahlia) for the murder and he doesnt want to be found out becuz he realizes he did some how love her so unbelievably much. how could he do this and be known of killing her after being so in love with her? so as he sees it, his life is destroyed. its a story of REALLY bad decisions. all of them pure teenage audienced and immature. but still this song shouldnt be treated meaninglessly and dont think of me calling out that way. its still a good song

oh btw i thin this song is called papercut becuz either: 1 its about how something that means nothing to people (like a papercut) they just shrug off, but for this guy, a 'papercut' is horrible, and flips them out bigtime cuz their so emotionally disturbed, or 2 a tiny little papercut is what triggered their paranoia that theyre suffering right now, or 3 its a reference to people so depressed (or better said emo) that they desperately cut themselves with anything, even paper (this is why people cant bring certain things like styrofoam and such in suicide hospitals). but this reason isnt likely, just irony

this song is very simple in meaning: its about caring for someone, maybe a relative, close friend, or sweetheart, whos depressed and sees no value in life, and youre trying to reason with them and help them see the values all around them, and this has been on for some time, and it works to a certain extent, and you care for them so much and you put your hope in them that they will not get worse or get suicidal. but as LP is expected, the person goes for the negative. in the end he/she does get worse, they start to push the friend trying to help away (even being hostile) and eventually they take their life. so the person who cared so much for this person (as if they were the world to them) gets dramatically affected by their passing, and they realize that they shouldve seen this coming when their friend started to push them away cruelly, and it stains them for life, making them now different, depressed, and a lot of changes have been made since the friend died. so in this tragedy the once-good person becomes bitter about everything, and realizes everything's useless and in the end all the things they tried to make this person feel better, all the stuff they went through for him/her didnt matter, cuz they passed on anyway. even though they got so far and almost won, in the end it was wasted, and now their life has become just as bad. i hope LP has personal experience from all this stuff in their music becuz they know so much about how it feels and itd be weird if they were just making things up.

man gosh i love this song i can relate to it so much cuz i know people exactly like this (stuck in depression-caused paranoia) and ive been everywhere in the lyrics of this song. i can almost imagine people i know like this in the music video with LP and singing along when they say "the suuun... goes dooowwn... i feel light betray me; the suuun go-oes do-own... i feel the light betray me; the suu-u-uuun..." with tears in their eyes, all emo.. i know how it feels to think like when the sun goes down youre being left behind in the darkness thats already too much to bear, and you realize the darkness inside you now matches the darkness outside of you. this song is simple in meaning: LP is looking at all the people out there who have had horrible, disturbed-for-life things happen to them that leads to depression then that eventually goes to your head and causes paranoid symptons becuz of the pain and stains inside (kids whove watched their loved ones die graphically in front of them; girls whove been raped)... and it makes you say crazy things when youre feeling this way, like everyone has this darkness in them and it prods at you all day, and gets worse at night... this song reaches out to those people. what LP does a lot is they sing about how horribly off they are, yet they say that the person theyre talking to is even worse, trying to paint a picture of just how bad things get that we cant understand.

hey i dont know what you guys will think of this but ive always thought this song (maybe not to the band members) is about sex. i know it has no lyrics and cant have an intended meaning but ive always thought it has to do with emotional sex. now it could be just a 'session' with hahn showing off a masterpiece, and sort of a break at the end of the album before numb finishes it off... but to me it makes me think of sex. listen to the instruments. the hot beat. the effects playing harshly with each other. a soft beat to get it on, emotional sounds, jiggling in the beginning, then the main beat bashes in, with a shifty effect in your ears. and then the beats lag and make all those sick sounds i dont know what to call, then the 'chorus' with the piano and screaming sound plays... its almost like a deppressed guy's (which a lot of LP's songs deal with this) lover is trying to make love to him so he'll feel better for a night (another 'session', maybe?)... i can totally imagine this. and when when the guitar comes in they feel the emotion between each other as they kiss and do it at the same time. then at the end of the song that beat changes and sounds like something like liquid is about to break then that wailing sound finishes the song, like the pleasure from the sex was so relieving for the guy's pain that he had to stop and feel it as he slowly stops jizzing as he stares in his lover's eyes... can you imagine this? i hope i won't get in trouble and all for going in extreme detail.. ._.
