| Red Hot Chili Peppers – Under the Bridge Lyrics | 15 years ago |

I know for a fact that this is about a canoe ride under the Rip Van Winkle bridge that crosses the Hudson River near the cities of Hudson and Catskill New York. "Sometimes I feel like I don't have a partner" is about being in the front of the canoe paddling away when suddenly the person at the back stops paddling and you start going around in circles. "where I drew some blood" is about pinching your thumb between the paddle and the side of the canoe whilst paddling... ...or maybe not... |

I know for a fact that this song is about the trials and tribulations of home-construction. The line about the 2 x 4's and the 16-penny nails really sums it up for me. Then there's the part about the light fixtures as well as the line about plumbing. |

In an effort to put the issue of this song's meaning to rest once and for all, I took 6 (and then 4 later) hits of LSD-25. It's not about tripping....although I could be wrong because all I have is a digital clock... |

| The Velvet Underground – The Murder Mystery Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| The meaning of this song is soooo obvious: There was some really excellent acid available and in heavy use at that time. End of story... | |
| Peter Gabriel – Solsbury Hill Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| It seems to be loosely about changes in one's life. But, to have concluded that I "Just had to trust imagination". Think I'll go back to looking for loose change under the couch cushions. Don't worry, though: as Peter Gabriel also wrote I "[Won't] Give Up"...until I find some... | |
| Brian Eno – Baby's On Fire Lyrics | 15 years ago |
| I think Brian Eno is referring to Robert Fripp's guitar as the baby that is on fire. Actually, I don't think the words mean a darned thing - it's just "fill" leading up to Fripp's awesome guitar solo/section. | |
| Peter Gabriel – Don't Give Up Lyrics | 15 years ago |

I finally got a chuckle out of this website! People take themselves soooo seriously! I liked OzzyStillbourne's comment about this song simply being about searching for something [like] happiness, SOLITUDE, or your car keys and whatnot... I think that a lot of songs really aren't "about" anything - it's more a matter of getting the vocals to sound right and sort-of tell a story. Good song lyrics (like Gabriel's 'Don't Give Up') allow listeners to pick and choose parts of it to apply to something in thier own lives. I'm going to put this song on and look for loose change & whatnot under the couch cushions. |
