| Lady GaGa – The Fame Lyrics

It's clearly sarcastic blast at the fame as she wrote it while still trying to make it and like studying tabloids to see how people make it and obviously thought omg what a load of **** but she had to adopt part of this culture to make it as a pop singer. |

I feel this is a companion song to Brown eyes, where the one who left you now wants you back. But, in the form of an affair. Its wrong but you can't resist him because you love him. |

| Scissor Sisters – Night Life Lyrics

This song is so good it deserves a comment.
It's quite obvious it's a discussion of a music scene but I never knew until I heard it live that verses are sung by Ana alone (with Babydaddy sometimes). She spoke about her musical influences from Manchester before the song and I think she's from new york originally so its a song about night life and the music and wanting to be a part of it I think. |

Ana moves her hand towards her crotch when she says skin this cat so it's 100% sexual. But it might not be just about gay men it could be about women with men or women to but filthy sexual play is involved. |

They use the "You gotta move your body if you wanna be a hottie" verse at the end of Filthy/Gorgeous on tour right now. |

I found a reference of Danny (or Denny). A queercore band called pansy division have a song called Denny in their second album Deflowered and it has a verse saying "Dennys dramatic, Dennys dark" its a stretch but considering the song is talking about gay culture a light ref. to queercore bands is not impossible right? |

| The Drums – Best Friend Lyrics

It started off as a song about How Jonny and Jacob are great friends, but that was boring so they talked about if Jacob was dead and Jonny waited forever for him but he'd eventually survive.
And the eyes line well, you've gotta see Jacobs eyes in person to understand but they're amazingly beautiful. And of course if Jacob died he'd want Jonny to know how he would survive from it. |

I don't think it's 100% about a girl its just about someone Jonny loves and wants to be with but they don't feel the same.
Irony is I said something stupid to the band about hair when I met them XD |

| The Drums – Down by the Water Lyrics

It could be, to me the song never states a specific gender and Jonny has never said his sexuality specifically (the closest was were he admitted he is attracted to people not only girls or boys).
So this like a few of their songs to me is unisex so it can be connected to all people about anyone dear they love. I find it so heart stutteringly romantic the song though, to me its about loving someone through the hard times because you love them now and forever. |

| The Drums – Don't Be a Jerk, Jonny Lyrics

"This next song is about a girl I really hate" He said last night onstage about this one.
I think if it was about a sister he wouldn't still hate her in his 20's so it's more like an ex girlfriend and who knows, the pregnancy is a possible thing this girl had.
It's about dead love to me and the flower analogy could represent her sleeping around (Flower represents virignity) oh my it could even be about his first love. |

| Noisettes – Sometimes Lyrics

Describes the change in direction from the first album to this. They've changed their sound and gone more direct 'no metaphors are needed from this time onwards' so yeah I think it just explains that in a nice ballad way. |

Her upstaging a band member to take centre stage and show them how to do it right on saturday night?
Not too sure but I know the band had a lot of punch-ups during the first album and the drummer is gone now. |

Storytelling in the weird logic format of alice in wonderland. Lots of interpretable messages like love, political, etc. You just have to pick a theme to find and you're likely to find it in a line due to the format its written in. |

Backstabbers, be they lovers or just friends. The last bit finalised that for me 'until I turn around' shows the haters who hate Jonny are secretive about it. But I guess theres confusion because they're polite to your face but nasty behind your back and you can't tell which is more dominant in them. |

| The Drums – I'll Never Drop My Sword Lyrics
| 15 years ago
|
Pff this is a tricky one for me to understand.
I think from the vocal style its from a childs perspective.
The mind like your heart bit is basically telling someone to stop overthinking but then its sad because the persons heart is nailed shut (repressed emotions).
I think theres some religion to it too (do you think jesus loves me?) I know Jonnys parents are devout catholics and he probably wasn't the best role model of a catholic boy (he may have been a bit feminine hence the I'm a boy line) so he questioned his religon at some point.
It could be about his parents I suppose (tell me a sad story so I can fall asleep) and I'll never drop my sword could mean he won't give up his own personal faith. |

Whenever I hear the guitar part it just sounds so similar to Ben E. Kings stand by me.
It's very clear in the lyrics what its about. Wanting to be a man that is sensitive and has fears. |

Well part of the song makes me think she's driving with someone and now they've gone a little kooky (from a fight, disagreement, etc) and is driving very uncalm and dangerously. Might just be me though. |

I think this was the song she considered giving to UK Welsh singer Duffy for her second album but never did.
She said she regretted not doing it now as it feels misplaced on the album. |

| Sia – Academia Lyrics
|
"It appears to me the pen is over analyzed again" I think thats a little jibe to how this song might just be nonsense Sia wrote at some point but thought about it in a clever way to see if some people over-analyze it into something more than it really is. Quite a clever thing to do however.
I mean Academia doesn't seem to be some metaphor for a specific person unless she loved a scientific/mathematic mind based nerd and he(or she) didn't get her and her creative artsy-ness. |
