I personally think this song is about a very destructive relationship (or maybe friendship), but hidden behind a certain concept of death and murder. I don’t know but that’s the first thing that I thought when I first heard this song: “Do you remember back when we met you told me this gets harder Well it did” >>He thinks back about when they first met. She told them their relationship would get harder and it turns out she was right. “Been holding on forever promise me that when i'm gone you'll kill my enemies” >>He’s been trying to hold on to their relationship although it’s ‘killing him’ that’s why he’s asking to kill this enemies when he can no longer do that. This one might be a little far-fetched though. “The damage you've inflicted temporary wounds i'm coming back from the dead and i'll take you home with me i'm taking back the life you stole” >>She’s really hurt him. He even compares it with death (maybe a depression), but ‘the wounds are temporary’ and he’s coming back to her for revenge: ‘Taking back the life she stole’. “We never got that far this helps me to think all through the night bright lights that won't kill me now or tell me how just you and i your starless eyes remain” >>He’s talking about how it went wrong and how ‘he wants to kill her’= wants revenge (‘your starless eyes remain’) but also still loves her. “Hip hip hooray for me you talk to me but would you kill me in my sleep lay still like the dead” >>After things went wrong and she hurt him really badly she starts talking to him again. He’s actually not happy about it and wonders if ‘she’d kill him in his sleep’: hurt him again when he isn’t expecting it. “from the razor to the rosary we could lose ourselves and paint these walls in pitchfork red” >>He talks about how they could lose themselves and end up hurting each other again: ‘paint these walls in pitchfork red’ “I will avenge my ghost with every breath i take i'm coming back from the dead and i'll take you home with me i'm taking back the life you stole” >>He’s coming back after she hurt him so much that he ended up in a depression or something like that and he wants revenge. “This hole you put me in wasn't deep enough and i'm climbing out right now you're running out of places to hide from me” >>He’s coming out of the depression she put him in and is coming for her. He wants his revenge. “When you go just know that i will remember you if living was the hardest part we'll then one day be together And in the end we'll fall apart just as the leaves change in color and then i will be with you i will be there one last time now When you go just know that i will remember you i've lost my fear of falling i will be with you, i will be with you” >>He says that he’ll always remember her and that they’ll end up meeting again. And although he is very angry he also knows that he’ll always love her. He’ll always fall for her and he knows he’ll be with her again. So these last lines kind of sum up the entire story: Their relationship is messed up. They keep hurting each other and although he’s very angry and actually wants revenge (all the killing references are about them hurting each other), he knows he’ll always forgive her but that it will happen again. Sorry if this has been said before. I just thought I’d share my own interpretation. |

| Okay so I was watching these scetches Gerard had made from all the characters (apparently they came with the iTunes booklet or something). And at Korse's scetch he had written: 'Elite exterminators are called scarecrows'. So that's kinda how this song fits the whole killjoy-concept. The killjoys are hiding from Korse (or other elite exterminators). | |

No those lines are from Na Na Na. On the album the first song is Look Alive Sunshine. Dr. Death says those things above and then the next song is Na Na Na. Thats where you hear the lines you are talking about. x3 |
